John
Collins, Assistant Professor of Global Studies, received his Ph.D. and
M.A. in Comparative Studies in Discourse and Society from the University
of Minnesota and his B.A. from Wesleyan University. His dissertation,
based on field research conducted in Palestine, explored the intersections
of generation, narrative, and nationalism in the context of the Palestinian
intifada
(uprising) against Israeli occupation. In addition to courses on
the Middle East, he teaches thematic and conceptual courses on globalization,
nationalism, cultural studies theory, and mass media criticism.
