Impermanence is an important theme in Buddhism and in the sacred arts of Tibet, including the sand mandala. The idea of impermanence reminds us that our attachments to objects we create in connection with the natural and material, manufactured world are less important that our achievement of inner knowledge and peace, and community with others.
