Capturing the life and spirit of a people through art is common
across cultures and time. The mandala, or circular picture, is seen
as a living device for devotion, healing, meditation, and
transformation. In this section, we introduce you to a few mandala
ideas outside of Tibetan Buddhism which reveal some common and unique
features of circular paintings in different cultures and religions,
including Christianity. We then take you into the heart of the
Kalachakra mandala with text and images connected to the construction
of this magnificent sacred artwork.
