8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Class Visitations— Parents are invited to visit classes to meet faculty or to visit administrators in their offices. Appointments in advance are encouraged and should be made through your student or by calling the department directly.
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Coaching Staff Appointments—Families interested in meeting with members of the coaching staff are encouraged to do so. Appointments should be scheduled in advance; coaches can be reached by calling 315-229-5423.

  • Getting Ready for Off-Campus Study - Hepburn 218. This is geared toward students who may have applied for a program, or already know which program they are interested in. The CIIS staff will provide a brief overview before breaking out into program-specific groups where students who have studied abroad will be on hand to answer your individual questions ranging from spending money to safety, and provide more detail about your program.
  • Residential Living at St. Lawrence: The First Year and Beyond - Hannon Room, Student Center. This session is intended for parents of new students to discuss housing options and the process beyond the first year. Director of Residential Learning Communities Tara Loomis, Associate Director of Residential Learning Communities Michele Burns and Assistant Director of Residential Learning Communities Joshua Drake will be available to answer any questions or concerns you may have about this year.

- Interest Sessions:

  • The World as Your Classroom: Planning Ahead for Off-Campus Study - Hepburn 218. Intended to introduce all of the programs available at St. Lawrence and to explain what should be done in preparation, this session is useful for students and parents who are in the preliminary stages of considering off-campus study. We will address academic programs, field components and cultural immersion, concerns about health and safety, academic credit, cost of participation, and the application process itself. We will be happy to answer any other questions you might have, as well. It's never too early to start preparing for the off-campus study experience.
  • Campus Facilities Planning: Past, Present and Future - Owen D. Young Library Lobby. As we move forward in renovation and construction projects on campus, the curriculum and the student experience will be changing and growing now and in the future. Join Mark McMurray, Tom Budd and Rebecca Daniels of University archives, biology and speech & theatre respectively, for a look at arts and science facilities and programs of the past, present and future at St. Lawrence.
  • First-Year Program Information Session - Dean Eaton Formal Lounge. Associate Dean of the First-Year Steve Horwitz, Director of Residential Learning Communities Tara Loomis and Director of Counseling Services Bill Burns will discuss the goals and objectives of the First-Year Program and answer any questions about the first-year experience at St. Lawrence.

1:00 p.m. Rally for a Cure Golf OutingSt. Lawrence University Golf Course. Sponsored by Panhellenic Council; money raised will benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Entry fee is $40 per person. Entries will be accepted for pairings, threesomes, or foursomes. Pairings will be combined to create foursomes. 11:00 a.m. Multi-Faith Worship ServiceGunnison Memorial Chapel. Family Weekend is an ideal time to honor and celebrate the diversity of the human family. Therefore this service will be multi-faith: including readings, music and reflections from several religious and spiritual traditions. Our Gospel Choir will sing and the service will address the questions: “How do we sustain meaningful relationships across differences?” and “Are you spiritual but not religious?” Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate.

Alcohol Policy
The Family Weekend Committee reminds parents that St. Lawrence is governed by New York State alcohol consumption laws. The state legal drinking age is 21. The University alcohol policy applies to students, faculty, staff and guests of the University. It prohibits consumption of alcoholic beverages at public events (including, but not limited to, films, lectures, athletic contests and performances).

Emergency Contact
To assist our staff during Family Weekend, family and friends are encouraged to leave an emergency contact number at the Registration area in the Student Center.

Meal Pass
During Family Weekend 2005, guests will be provided with a meal pass to use during those meals included in the registration fee (Friday Honors Reception, Saturday breakfast with Academic Affairs and Student Life Staffs, Saturday picnic, Saturday reception with the President and Mrs. Sullivan, and Sunday brunch at Dana Dining Hall). Your St. Lawrence student must also use his or her meal card during this time since these meals are not included in the Family Weekend registration fee.

Parking
Families are invited to park in any of the available University parking lots. Should you drive a self-contained trailer or motor home, parking is available at the Appleton Arena lot and "J" Parking lot; however, there are no facilities or hookups. We ask that you park in these areas only.

Golf
Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course is open 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Saturday. The course is located behind the Best Western University Inn on Rute 11. Green fees must be paid at the Pro Shop, adjacent to the inn. Entrance fee is $13 per person for nine holes (walking). To reserve a tee time, call 315-386-4600.
