Teaching Circles

The Teaching Circle on Cultural Diversity is a small group of faculty that came together at St. Lawrence University's Center for Teaching and Learning in February 2003. The principal aim of the circle was to begin a sustained conversation about teaching across difference and diversity. The Teaching Circle has been an open setting to have conversations about pedagogical challenges and strategies for teaching around issues of race, racism, ethnicity and cultural diversity. It has given the members the opportunity to talk about how to include these topics into their teaching through readings, class activities, and collaborative learning.

This group continues to meet for the 2004-05 academic year and is composed of Ilia Casanova-Marengo (Modern Languages and Literatures), Martha Chew-Sánchez (Global Studies), Esther Oey (Education), Evelyn Powell-Jennings (History) and Mary Jane Smith (History).
