Text Box:  As the fall 2003 semester started and the McNair program got under way, the shape of the program was still in a formative stage. Scholars and faculty mentors who agreed to participate all knew that the tightly-planned semester  was designed to provide a series of learning opportunities in short order so the selected scholars would be successful graduate school candiText Box: dates. Kudos go out to all who stepped forward during the formative semester to allow us to begin.
Now we can shape the program as it was intended. From this semester on our new crop of McNair Scholars (rising seniors) will be involved in an eight week summer program. During that time scholars will be provided with GRE preparation classes, inforText Box: mation on the graduate school process, mentoring as they do their research, and access to the resources designed to assist them in completing a successful research project. Scholars  will then be taking GRE’s, applying to graduate schools, and presenting their research in the fall and spring.

McNair Seniors—Mark your calendars for April 22– 25.The 9th Annual Rocky Mountain McNair Research Symposium and Graduate Education Conference will be held at the Inverness Hotel and Golf Resort in Englewood, Colorado.

CSTEP Members: Mark your calendars for April 16—18 for the 12th Annual CSTEP Statewide Conference at the Sagamore Hotel in Lake George, NY. Applications are due this week and are attached to this newsletter issue.
