Update from Arcadia - The last week.
This past week at Arcadia has been a hectic one. It was our final few days at the yurt village, where we were able to finally see the lake turn over and experience the first snow of the season! This excitement however, was coupled with feelings of nostalgia as we began to pack up all our belo0ngings and head across the lake to Gannett Lodge. The taking down of the yurt village was quite an experience. In the matter of 8 hours we dismantled six yurts, a dock, solar panels, and cleaned up kitchen and classroom supplies. Leaving what was our home for the past 3 months was sad, but we had little time to dwell on it as our minds were filled with thoughts of oncoming examinations and final papers. Amid all of these physical and scholastic undertakings, we traveled to some of the North Country's finest solar homes. Visiting each one of these allowed us to conceptualize what we in our own lives can do to live sustainably and carry on the values we learned during our semester on Lake Massawepie. In a few days we will all be heading our separate ways for Thanksgiving break where we can unwind and reflect on not only an event filled week, but an eventful semester and begin preparation for our various Transitional Experiences.
