As a kid Ian wrangled rocks, climbing them fueled by bagels with cream cheese and pickles. After high school Ian was lured west to Montana by the promise of bountiful snow. But after a year, he felt a keen longing for the maple syrup and rolling green hills of his home. He still loves “the trees, the mountains, the dirt roads and the people” of his home town.  This is Ian’s last semester at SLU. He ventured to Arcadia to get out of classrooms and learn how to knit. He’s a big dreamer, hoping to knit a wool blanket before this semester’s end. He’s enjoyed finding out more and more about himself with each passing day of the semester. “I’ve found that I identify with all the red squirrels,” he muses, “they’re furry, like me.” By the end of the semester he hopes to have grown a beard to his waist . “I’m envisioning my beard as an orphanage for abandoned red squirrel babies. It’s the least I can do, they are my spirit animal, after all.” He’s a patriotic man, but plans to move to Russia if Trump is elected.
