Language Resource Center

The Language Resource Center, located on the second floor of Carnegie Hall, features two computer language labs, a large collection of
language software, foreign language films, music, magazines, foreign language dictionaries, and world maps. It is directed by Gisele El
Khoury who, assisted by her student staff, strives not only to complement the course offerings of The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures but also to promote the innovative use of technology in the language classrooms and their attendant labs.

To meet these goals, the LRC has the following objectives:

1. to work with faculty to identify and select the proper technologies for enhancing a particular pedagogy or learning goal;
2. to develop and support the use of multimedia technology in the classroom;
3. to train faculty and students in the use of various technologies, including audio and video editing, web and social software, Angel, VirtuaLab (CAN8), etc.
4. to promote the understanding of other languages and cultures via programming such as Carnegie 10 International Film Series and events during World Language Week;
5. to foster connections between study abroad programs and on-campus study to maintain a media library of films and materials for language teaching.
