I first became interested in African Studies after hearing about the experiences that some of my upperclassmen friends had while studying abroad in Kenya. I soon after enrolled in Swahili and Intro to African Studies, both of which helped to further spark my interest far beyond just studying abroad. What I have enjoyed most about my classes is that I'm always learning something new and eye-opening that keeps me coming back for more. The professors here at St. Lawrence are highly knowledgeable and have an enthusiasm for their subject that is contagious. I hope to study abroad in Kenya during the spring of 2011, and to use that experience to help me complete a Senior Year Experience (SYE) project that combines my interests of Economics and African Studies.
